North-bound.
Queensland Rail has announced the New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) trains will run to Nambour, in addition to new and extended weekly services from March 2.
The 75-strong NGR fleet will service the Nambour line, between Elimbah and Nambour after successful testing.
Bombardier made, the fleet will only run on weekdays and operate more than 45 existing services per week on the line, replacing the ageing InterCity Express model.
The rail firm says it will increase its customer service presence at Glass House Mountains, Beerwah, Landsborough and Palmwoods stations to support the rollout.
Additionally, 32 extra weekly services and five extended services will also take into effect during early mornings — covering Springfield, Beenleigh, Cleveland, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Shorncliffe lines. Click here to find out more information.
Introduced in late 2017, the six-car NGR trains provide high back seats, open gangways, LED lighting and longer aerodynamic noses that fits a total of approximately 964 people (seated and standing).
This now only leaves the Beenleigh/Ferny Grove, Rosewood, and North Gympie (Sunshine Coast) lines without any operational NGR’s.
