Peugeot E-2008 EV discounted to record low price

UPDATE: 2023 Peugeot E-2008 now sold out

Peugeot Australia has confirmed the heavily discounted runout 2023 E-2008 small electric SUV has been sold out – within just nine days of the offer being available.

That’s according to its updated website, with the model page replaced with a placeholder for the forthcoming facelifted E-2008.

The new Peugeot E-2008 is now confirmed to launch in Australia in the first quarter (January to April inclusive) of 2025.

Beforehand, the French carmaker is expected significantly expand its electric car line-up with the release of the smaller E-208 light hatchback, E-308 small car, all-new E-3008 medium SUV, and facelifted E-Expert commercial van – all due later this year.

This now leaves the GWM Ora, BYD Dolphin, MG 4, and Nissan Leaf as ~$40K EV options – with the latter recently receiving a ~$10K discount until May 30 (or while stocks last).

5 May 2024: 2023 Peugeot E-2008 becomes one of Australia’s cheapest electric SUVs

Peugeot Australia has slashed the E-2008 electric SUV to a sharp $39,990 drive-away starting price, ahead of launching a facelifted model.

The clearance offer represents a saving of around $24K depending on the state – and now costs less to buy than the just facelifted petrol-powered Peugeot 2008.

The nationwide discount applies to “selected” new and demonstrator 2023 model year E-2008 GT SUVs – which must be sold and delivered between May 1 to June 30 2024.

The Spanish-made EV now directly rivals Chinese offerings including the MG ZS EV small SUV, MG 4, GWM Ora and BYD Dolphin hatchbacks – instead of the previous $59,990 before on-road costs price tag which put it against the Cupra Born warm hatch, Hyundai Kona Electric small SUV, and the popular Tesla Model 3 sedan.

Launched belatedly in Australia in late 2023, the high-spec Peugeot E-2008 GT is based on the regular petrol 2008 small SUV.

The facelifted Peugeot E-2008 is coming at a “later date” with a more aggressive exterior design, slightly more driving range and upgraded technology, following the updated petrol 2008 which is currently on sale.

However, it isn’t the first time Australians have seen a low-selling EV receive a major price discount.

Late last year, the Mini Electric hatchback price was slashed by about $20K in a bid to clear stock ahead of the all-new model launching later this year.
